Production: Progress Review Blog

Progress Review!

In my 2 previous 'Reflection On Progress' blog posts I had given myself five things overall that I would need to improve on within my A2 work, which were:
  • To use even more technologies and show a wide variation
  • Keep on top of my blogging by being organised and managing my time well to not to fall behind
  • Add loads more detail to my work, be specific and contextualise
  • Keep organised and on-top of my blogging still, but try to be ahead of the tasks and use my initiative.
  • Create more blog posts that show me and my group’s ideas, rather than just the analysis of work that already exists.
Have I met my targets?

Review: I feel like my blogging work has developed throughout my AS year and A2 year as a whole. I have tried to keep up to date with my blogging and stay on task, keeping in mind the level of detail i am producing  in my work and not just making unnecessary blog posts just to increase my blog count. I think that because i was so focused on editing the rough cut and the final music video; going into Media workshops everyday and staying after college till late hours doing the group work by myself, that i actually have fallen behind on my individual work :-(. Despite this, i have put a lot of effort and work into the group blog posts and have made various extra one's. Some group posts were literally made all by myself, but i have tagged my group in the post as they were either in the video or contributed in some way by just briefly talking in it for example. I know that high marks are not really awarded for many group posts, and that's what i am frustrated about, because that's where i have put most of my effort and i have sacrificed not doing my individual blog posts on time.

How successfully do you think your blog details the research, planning and construction stages of your music video?
I think that my blog shows the the research, planning and construction stages of my music video in a detailed, fun and interesting way...well i hope so. Ha ha. I think it is successful as it shows the progression and process i have gone through in terms of doing research and finding out relevant information, applying that to my own products/work i create and putting into practice and learning from my mistakes.

How happy are you with your individual blogging so far, in relation to the targets you've set yourself?
Like i said before, my individual blogging is behind slightly, i am not where i would like to be, but it is still decent none the less. I have put in detail, explained and have analysed my own work.

Overall group blog count is: 143
My own overall blog count is: 99
My individual blogs (not including group posts) are: 50

SYNERGY CHANGED???

 Why Has Our Synergy Changed?

A previous blog post explained how we were going to incorporate synergy into our products. However this now has to change as we never got the necessary shots we needed to create the synergy for e.g. when we filmed on the millennium bridge the shots came out quite dark and the city lights didn't illuminate like we hoped it would therefore the lights wouldn't have been noticeable to the audience that that was a part of our synergy. Another problem was that we never got to film at Granary Square at all. Our schedule never went to plan and as that was one of our main locations to film in to pull off the synergy so this was a problem. This in conjunction with getting bad shots at the millennium bridge created a dilemma for us in creating great synergy across our products. The only thing we were left with was the graffiti walls and alley ways with the lighting.

The most successful shots we got were with the graffiti walls, brick walls and alley ways with really good lighting as you could see in the final video. It also showed the urban surrounding and had the concept we were going for. So it made sense to make the graffiti/urban location the synergy. Don't you think?

Last Day!

Here are some screen shots of our last day of editing. We are using this time to add any filters and finishing touches the music video may need. We are very pleased with our near to finished result. Hard work does pay off.

WELL DONE GIRLLLSSSSS!!!!

Proud of us! It was a struggle, but we made it haha :-*
(Love Genie xoxo)

We put in a lot of hard work, but it was a lot of fun to film despite the treacherous weather conditions!  We struggled though came out with an amazing end result that e're all very proud of xxx (Sharina)

Production: Editing - Adding Filters

HSV Adjust

I have started to add filters on the bridge of the song. This filter was in Image Control called HSV Adjust. It makes the graffiti on the wall stand out more and whole shot looks brighter and more colourful.

Why Our Synergy Changed

Originally when we pitched our ideas to Rebecca and Dan, we had told them that our synergy would be the city lights. We wanted to give strong imagery of bright lights contrasting with the dark, which is why we planned to film in various locations around central London.

However when we began filming we realised that the shots that we got of me performing where the lights were, had poor cinematography. But during filming we realised that we really captured an urban essence by filming in Urban areas such as Brick Lane and Dalston which will result in a more effective use of synergy when we begin our ancillary products

Production: Final Week of Editing

In the editing suit for the final week doing some more editing and adjustments.

Production: Mary & Rebecca Feedback!

Rebecca asked Mary to watch our video as we were having a problem with one of our base tracks and wanted to see if it could be spotted out; therefore resulting in us having to resolve the situation. Because Mary isn’t one of our Media teachers, this gave us a fresh new intake on our video, especially because she hasn’t seen it before. The problem that Rebecca was telling us about was the exact same problem Mary spotted. Take a look.

Production: Last Week of Editing

Today is the last week of filming so we are adding all the finishing touches

Our rough cut was one of the most completed ones out of our entire class so there wasn't much to edit and change.

We did receive quite a sufficient and helpful amount of audience and teacher feedback - some with contrasting opinions so as a group we are currently discussing everybody's different opinions and deciding on what we are going to do, as it is our choice overall.

Production: Feedback

Production: First Rough Cut Audience Feedback

This was our very first rough cut feedback from an audience. Take a look!!!

Production - We Finished Our Rough Cut!

Production: Rough Cut!!!

Rough Cut!

Production: Teacher Feedback of Rough Cut

Negative

Shutters in the allyway in Dalston - It distracts artist and makes mise en scene look poor.
Get rid of shot in the archway as too much attention is drawn to 'premier inn' signs, instead of the artist.

Positive

Base tracks are nice and well framed.
Great use of mise en scene.
Performance from the artist is strong.
Most complete rough cut that Rebecca has seen so far.

Production: Editing Again!

Editing In College On My Day Off!

I don’t have college on Fridays, but I came in to continue editing our rough cut. I stayed in Media until the department locked up. I was on my own once again, but Sharina did come around the end. A decent amount got done that day, as I was literally in Media all day. I was tired, hungry (I didn't eat), and a bit upset/frustrated that I was doing it on my own...again. Everyone was asking where my group is, and that I’m always here on my own. But what’s done is done, I’m trying my best and there is so much I can do. I am in Media workshop every day, I am working in other peoples Media lessons all the time, I have my own lessons, and I am also doing work at home. I would finish College at 12:15pm, and end up leaving college at 5pm from staying in College and doing Media work. Deadlines are approaching, so work needs to get done.
.

Production: Editing Continues

Editing - Just Me Again...

I synced most of the base tracks and now I have moved onto cutting up the footage to create the beginning of the video; where cut-aways of traffic and the train station are shown.

Production: Editing - Day 1

Base Track Editing!

I decided to start the first bit of editing as I realised that time was going really quickly and me and my group needed to get a move on. Unfortunately the rest of my group were not with me at this time. I had started base track editing and syncing the footage to the original track.

Production: Last Day of Filming!

Last Day Of Filming!

Filming now comes to an end as we have reached the last day. We go to Hackney Downs train station to film the cut-aways of Zee with the  train going past; which we are going to do speed manipulation with.

Planning - New Updated Web Page

We recently revisited the artist's webpage and due to the release of her new E.P, Katy has updated her webpage again

Production - Images From Hackney Downs

These are images of me standing on the platform and Sharina filming while we was collecting our footage at Hackney Downs train station. This was our last day of filming so we was all very relieved. I was feeling very unwell so it was a drag but I'm soo happy filming in the freezing cold weather is done.. Time for editing!!!!! :)

Getting a Chance to Work With the Camera

Being the artist of our Music Video means that I haven't had much oppurtunity to work with the camera and equiptment. However last night I got the chance to film some extra clips that I wasn't needed to feature in. Felt good to finally be holding the camera rather than standing infront of it..

Production - A Funny Story

Last night I jumped on a 149 from London Bridge taking me straight to Edmonton Green. Sharina got off at Dalston Junction so I was left alone. I fell asleep all the way from Dalston Junction to Edmonton Green on the bus!!!! I was so ill and tired that I had fallen asleep. People must have been laughing at me while I was knocked out haha. When we was at the last stop someone tapped my shoulder to wake me up lol! HOW EMBARRASSING!!

Heres a flickr presenetation of pics we took when we was filming in the city. I had a banging headache and was soo tired. It was so cold and I was wearing converse so my toes were FREEZING. This means that I look terrible in the footage we got -___-
Overall even though it was cold, I wasn't feeling good and I was tired I pulled through and got a few shots done. Another positive to this day was that I enjoyed looking at the city lights haha.
