These are images from a previous students digipak work.
Outside Panels.
- This is the front panels of the digipak, she has used a clear, close up revealing the entire face of the artist which effectively draws attention to the artist and her features: this is essential when introducing and establishing a new artist into the media industry. The colour of the font used for the artists' name is the same colour of the featured on the artists lips which has a nice overall affect on the look of the digipak. A bold, large font is used to display the name of the album and the artists' name which allows all focus and attention to also be drawn to it. Text is kept to a minimum on the front of digipak which effectively draws attention solely to the attractive new female artist.
- The grey, black and red coloured circles placed as design on the back panel of the digipak are a nice addition by adding a little colour and quirkiness to an, otherwise, very simplistic digipak. I think the simple coloured circles design works well with the digipak, as the design's also simple, yet adds a pops of colour which connect to the colours of the artists makeup and the colour of the font on the front of the digipak.
Inside Panels.
- She has also chosen to use a large establishing shot of the artist on one of the inside panels, though the images not as strong as the image on the front panel of the digipak, it is also a strong image regardless, as it is a medium closeup. As her eyes are closed, the effectiveness of capturing and directly connecting to the audience is lost, though this seems to be intentional as the added quote 'when I close my eyes all I think about is you... My fans here's something to say Thank You.' suggests that the closed eyes were intended to soften the image as the image is meant to be a more personal way of connecting to her fans, rather than effectively trying to get the attention of every member of the audience.
- She has also chosen to decorate the CD with jewelry imagery, which, I believe, is to connect to the fact that in the actual music video the artist is wearing a chunky, statement necklace and other pieces of jewelry - though this isn't evident in the images chosen for the digipak.
- I really admire the use of colour and the use of image for the advertisement. The close up of the artists' face takes up almost half of the entire advertisement and is really effective. It catches my attention straight away as she is starting directly at me, which an expression revealing slight attitude revealed on her face. The image is strong and powerful, and considerably effectively.
- The rest of the advertisement is also really good as it includes all the essential information needed: ways to interact with and contact the artist and where the song is available. The advertisement is fun with a great use to colour.
My overall feelings on these ancillary products are positive - I think the artist is clearly replicated and all items clearly link together. The artists is clearly established with great shots. My favourite product is the advertisement, as I believe it looks highly professional. My least favourite item is the inside of the digipak, as I am not a fan of the use of jewelry imagery to decorate the CD as I don't think it works too well, and I do not like the blue colour of the background - it doesn't connect well with the advertisment or the outside panels of the digipak as blue is not featured anywhere else on any of the other products.
