Researching Ancillary Products: Analysis Of Three Digipaks

 Analysis Of Three Digipaks

Here i have analysed 3 digipaks identifying the codes and conventions and i have commented on the visual style in relation to the video from which they came.

Rita Ora - ORA

Rita Ora was one of the artists that related to my genre. Her digipak is a good example of how the album is focused on the artist as a close up of her is on the front panel, so the audience can see her; and only her. The only writing that is on the front it the name of the artist, which is the biggest font size, and then the name of the album. The name of the album is called 'Ora', the artist's last name; again showing that this album is representing her. The back panel has snap shots of the artist and the track list on the right hand side. The colour scheme of black, white and red is shown throughout the digipak as the cd itself is red and white as well.

Beyonce - I Am Sasha Fierce

Beyonce's digipak and pictures all portray another persona or identitiy as 'Sasha Fierce'. The cd front panel is an image of beyonce, in the character of beyonce. The back panel is of her character Sasha Fierce as her makeup and hair is exadurated more and her pose/body position is more visual which shows that she is fierce, confident and a diva. Whereas the font panel is showing Beyonce in more of a natural light with simple makeup and hair. This concept is represented in all products to do with/promoting this album. The artists name is the biggest size font on the front panel, emphasising that its about her. The back panel has the album track list, the cd itself has an image of Beyonce on it, and the inside booklet has the song names and the lyrics underneath. This is a feature that 'hard core fans' would like so they could know the lyrics ans sing along.

Leona Lewis - Sprirt

Leona Lewis's album front panel is similar to Rita Ora's in a sense that it is just a close up of her face which again emphasises the album focusing on the artist as its her first album. The artist name and album name is the same sized font and are on the top and bottom of the panel, not covering her face. The back panel is simple with black background and white writing which doesn't make things dramatic and overwhelming to look at. The track list is down the middle of the panel and there is some white swirl illustrations around the sides which creates this feminine look. The cd itself is simple, black background with white writing, in the same font (keeping everything similar), and the track list is on the cd too.
