Reflecting: Technical Skills That I Developed During The AS Year

Throughout the course of the AS year i learnt a variety of skills and have developed them as i have progressed onto A2. The technical skills are as follows:
  • Final Cut Pro: Since starting media i have been able to learn how to use Final Cut Pro on the Mac's, I have filmed and edited a Prelim, Thriller, and a Music Video; including learning how to edit with base tracks and certain shot types.
  • Sound Track Pro: I have also learnt how to use Sound Track Pro in conjunction with Final Cut Pro, to edit the sound. Adding various effects and Foli Sounds such as 'Knocks on the door'.
  • Prezi: During blogging, i had to use different technologies, one of which was Prezi. I learnt how to use Prezi whilst progressing through my media course.
  • Camtasia: I  used Camtasia to add annotation or to do a voice-over on a previously recorded/filmed video to explain or evaluate what was going on. It would provide more detail and show that i had an understanding of the task set.
  • MPEG Stream Clip: I had to use this technology when converting media files into a smaller size as some were too big to upload onto the blog.
  • Vimeo: I used Vimeo to look at specific examples, analyse and gain information and research from other videos uploaded onto the site e.g. previous student videos.
  • Blogger: Blogger is an important and vital technology that i had to use to record and post all information and research, therefore
  • SlideShare: I would create  PowerPoint Presentations, then upload it to SlideShare so it was able to go onto the blog post. This counted as another form of technology.
  • Vlogs: I used Vlogs as a way to document what i had done and what i would do next. It would show behind the scenes of filming and i would also talk to the camera to explain certain situations or evaluate.
  • Film Making: Upon picking Media Studies, i had tutorials and lessons on how to set up the camera and tri-pod and learned specific camera shots and how to film them. Also taking into account the rules and regulation and health and safety.
